The Gravesham Council have been considering speed cameras all across Istead Rise area. The number of car accidents in Istead Rise have risen by 5% over the past 3 years. The main car accidents have been occuring on the Istead Rise hill. Therefore, the Council have questioned the Istead rise community for having a speed camera outside Haven Close, where most of the accidents have been occuring. I have asked a numerous amount of the community, of their thoughts on this, Mrs Warren had to say "I think it is a terrific idea to have a speed camera on the dip. The amount of boy racers around this area is ridiculous and I think that it is only fair that they get a warning when speeding down or up the hill, hopefully now there won't be so many accidents." However, some of the younger generation have objections of having the speed camera there, "I am not a bad driver and I don't see how having another speed camera in the village is going to stop the boy racers around here and i especially don't see how us sensible teenage drivers should have to take the fall for others. It won't stop them driving like idiots" a comment there from miss Hardy. It is a well known fact that recently more and more car accidents are being caused by the younger generation but is a speed camera going to stop these accidents? Some people would like to think so but others have very little faith in the speed cameras because it won't completely stop these accidents occuring on the road. The Council haven't come to a final decision just yet however, they are still holding meetings on the discussion. I would like to hear more about your thoughts on these speed cameras, please leave your comments.
